XM and SIRIUS merger could soon be definitive
Written by admin on July 1, 2010 – 9:44 am -By all indications / Sirius XM merger may be further completed by the end of March to the radio. Satellite fans sat on the sidelines for several months that the proposed merger is subject to regulatory oversight by the FCC. During the last week it was reported that an increased appeal to the FCC on the proposed merger took place, suggesting that the review could be completed soon.
It should be emphasized that the FCC should continuecoordinated with the Justice Department, the Agency is a part of antitrust investigation of the proposed agreement, but many believe that the comprehensive review of a merger is still in its final stage.
Accounts show that the shares of the two satellite radio companies have increased as senior officials of both XM and Sirius are no comments for the last week, indicating approval of the merger may come soon.
XM and Sirius first report of aproposed merger in February 2007. Since then, there is a great expectation of customers and potential customers are waiting to know whether the operation could take place and if so, how can change and improve the satellite service.
The question on the basis of the proposed merger are or are not the only two companies combining satellite radio in the United States would in effect create a monopolyThis could harm their clients.
News that the investigation may soon finish is certainly remain as the merger agreement was signed on March 1. XM and Sirius both agree, but have more time to the merger agreement, as he expected some kind of decision by the FCC and DOJ. In essence, both companies agreed that they would not exercise the right to terminate the contract before May 1 seems enough time to merger review should be concluded by the review agencies.
The satellite radio merger can lead to many benefits for both companies, allowing them to reduce costs and potentially profitable much sooner than they might be able to do if they were independent companies.
It was harshly criticized the potential merger with critics arguing that the merger would stifle competition. XM and Sirius are quick to point out, butSatellite radio consumers continue to be one option for entertainment, are available. In addition, subscribers can access entertainment figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Howard Stern, Bob Dylan and many more to go to cover more than the decision between the two companies do. In addition, consumers are not necessarily more expensive to upgrade a package, if they want to. They will be able tocan only receive XM or Sirius broadcasts based only keep them if they wanted.
